Over 73 per cent of voters exercised their franchise on February 11 in the election to 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations.
Hyderabad: The counting of votes in the elections to 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations in Telangana, a test of popularity for the ruling Congress, opposition BJP and BRS, began at 8 am on Friday, February 13.
The counting process of votes is expected to take time as ballot papers were used in the election.
Postal ballots were taken up first for counting.

12:04 am: Out of the 30 municipalities declared so far, the Congress is leading in 24, while the BRS is ahead in six. The BJP is yet to open its account.
11:59 am: Results for all 12 wards of Devarakadra Municipality in Mahbubnagar district have been declared. The Congress won six wards, securing a clear majority, while the BRS claimed four wards. The BJP and an Independent candidate won one ward each.
11:41 am: Out of the 448 wards declared so far, the Congress has won 240, followed by the BRS with 140 and the BJP with 37.
Among other parties, the AIFB has secured six wards, while the AIMIM and CPI(M) have won one ward each.
Independents have emerged victorious in 14 wards, and 12 wards were decided unanimously.
11:40 am: In Nereducharla Municipality, Gugulothu Ravinder Naik (BRS) won Ward 1, while Yarava Lakshmi (Congress) secured Ward 2. Dondapati Appireddy (BRS) emerged victorious in Ward 3, and Konatham Manjula (Congress) won Ward 4.
Nannepanga Srinivas (Congress) claimed Ward 5, followed by Nukala Sandeep Kumar Reddy (Congress) in Ward 6. Jyothi Vasa (BRS) won Ward 7, and Talla Lavanya (Congress) secured Ward 8.
Enjamuri Srikanth (Congress) won Ward 9, while Enjamuri Venkatamma (BRS) took Ward 10. Mohammed Shaheen (BRS) secured Ward 11, and Abdul Kaleem Mohammad (Congress) won Ward 12.
Bolishetty Laxmaiah (Congress) emerged victorious in Ward 13, Arruri Vuaya Laxmi (JSP) won Ward 14, and Konatham Venkat Reddy (Congress) secured Ward 15.
11:38 am: Out of 23 municipalities declared so far, the Congress has won 18, while the BRS has secured five. The BJP and other parties are yet to open their account.
All Municipalities — Ward-wise Trends (1,069 of 2,581)
According to the latest ward-wise trends, the Congress is leading in 610 wards, followed by the BRS in 290, the BJP in 75, and Others in 94.
11:34 am: Of the 423 results declared so far, the Congress (INC) has won 224 seats, while the BRS has secured 131 and the BJP 37. The AIFB has won six seats, while the AIMIM and CPI(M) have secured one seat each.
11:31 am: Out of 953 wards where trends are available, the Congress is leading in 525, followed by the BRS in 274 and the BJP in 71. Others are ahead in 83 wards.
11:12 am: According to early trends, the Congress is leading in 441 wards, while the BRS is ahead in 236 and the BJP in 63 wards.
11:01 am: As per early trends, results have been declared in 626 of the 2,586 wards. The Congress is leading with 345 wards, followed by the BRS with 186, the BJP with 45, and Others with 50.

Out of eight municipalities declared so far, the Congress has won six, while the BRS has secured two. The BJP is yet to open its account.
10:58 am: The State Election Commission (SEC) stated that under Rule 63, once a candidate is declared elected by the Returning Officer under Rule 15 or Rule 62, the Returning Officer must issue an Election Certificate in Form XXVII at the earliest.
The SEC further clarified that the officer must immediately obtain a duly signed acknowledgement from the candidate confirming receipt of the certificate.
10:53 am: In Narayanpet, the BJP led in Ward 1 with 527 votes, followed by Congress with 464 and BRS with 84 votes.
In Ward 4, the BJP secured 415 votes, ahead of BRS with 267 and Congress with 76 votes. Four votes were declared invalid.
Ward 7 saw BRS take the lead with 456 votes, while Congress polled 390 and the BJP received 144 votes. The “Pressure Cooker” symbol secured 21 votes, and one vote was cast for NOTA.
In Ward 10, the “Ring” symbol topped the tally with 449 votes, followed by the BJP with 386 and Congress with 160 votes. BRS received 10 votes, while three voters opted for NOTA.
10:52 am: In Parakal Municipality of Hanamkonda district, BRS candidate Venkata Swami Dubasi won Ward 1, while Rani Tummala secured victory in Ward 6.
From the BJP, Vijay Kumar won Ward 15, Akula Lavanya triumphed in Ward 12, Bejjanki Poornachari secured Ward 19, and Purna Chari Bejjanki won Ward 9.
Congress candidates Eku Divya and Subhadra emerged victorious in Wards 4 and 17, respectively.
10:43 am: Out of 390 results declared in the 2,586 municipalities, the Congress has won 218 seats, while the BRS has secured 115 and the BJP 26.
10:35 am: The key to the strong room in Huzurabad, Karimnagar district, went missing. Officials broke open the strong room lock using a crowbar.
10:23 am: Sunkari Alivelu, the Congress nominee from Ward 9 of Nagarkurnool Municipality, secured victory with a margin of 315 votes. Election officials handed over the certificate of victory to her.
10:21 am: The Congress has registered a clean sweep in Husnabad Municipality, emerging victorious in Wards 4, 5, 6, and 7.
10:19 am: Congress party candidate Pothula Chandrakala from Ward 18 in Nagarkurnool secured victory with a margin of 215 votes.
10:16 am: The Congress has taken a decisive lead in the ongoing Telangana municipal election couting, winning 102 municipalities across the state so far. The party’s performance underscores its strong foothold in urban local bodies and sustained backing among municipal voters.
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has secured 51 municipalities, placing second in the overall tally, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won 15 municipalities, trailing well behind the Congress.
10:13 am: A total of 488 postal ballots were issued in Adilabad, of which 436 were received. Out of these, 425 were declared valid, while seven were rejected. Four voters opted for NOTA.
10:12 am: In the postal ballot count for Chandur Municipality, a total of 20 votes were cast. The Congress secured 13 votes, establishing a clear lead in the segment, while the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) polled 6 votes.
Details of the remaining votes are awaited as the counting of regular ballots is still underway.
10:11 am: The Telangana Municipal Polls–2026 were held on Wednesday, February 11, across 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations.
Among the municipalities, the highest voter turnout of 91.91% was recorded in Choutuppal Municipality of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, while the lowest turnout of 59.66% was reported in Nandikonda Urban Local Body in Nalgonda district.
In the municipal corporations, Nalgonda Urban Local Body registered the highest polling percentage at 77.36%, whereas Nizamabad Corporation recorded the lowest at 59.12%.
10:00 am: Telangana DGP Shivadhar Reddy has warned that strict action will be taken against anyone who misbehaves with or attempts to target police personnel or other government officials deployed on municipal election duty in the state.

Security arrangements for counting of votes for Telangana municipal elections
Earlier, the State Election Commission (SEC) said in a statement that adequate security arrangements have been made to ensure peace and order. Section 163 of BNSS (prohibitory orders) would be in force around the counting centres.
Only the counting supervisors, counting assistants, candidates and their election and counting agents would be allowed inside the counting hall.
Director General of Police (DGP) B Shivadhar Reddy said comprehensive and foolproof security arrangements have been put in place for the counting of votes.
Nearly 12,000 police personnel, supported by armed forces and Quick Response Teams have been deployed at the counting centres to maintain law and order, he said.
Webcasting would be made in all the counting centres and outside the strong rooms, the SEC said.
