In a news release, Phoenix Police Department (PPD) stated Ebanks was arrested after the police officials were alerted to an apparent homicide at an apartment around 9 p.m. on May 7, 2026, according to a PPD news release. “On May 7, 2026, at approximately 9:03 p.m., officers responded to the area of 24th Street and Oak Street regarding an unknown trouble call. Information provided to dispatch indicated that a man had been killed inside a nearby home and that his body remained inside the residence ..the press release said.
According to a probable cause statement obtained by PEOPLE, the caller, identified as Jeffery Majalca, told authorities that he was contacted by his daughter, Selena Blanco, who claimed her boyfriend had been killed by a man. She told her father that the body was inside the apartment. According to authorities, he said the deceased victim had been placed in a bathtub before being wrapped up and put into a closet.”
Upon arrival, officers located the involved home and made entry. Inside, they found the remains of an adult male. The Phoenix Police Department's Homicide Unit responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation,” the PPD release stated.

Responding officers detected ‘bleach smell’ and found ‘blood’ at crime scene
The probable cause statement further alleged that responding officers detected the smell of bleach and other cleaning chemicals upon arriving at the scene, where they also observed wet floors and cleaning supplies. Authorities also discovered blood and "signs of cleanup efforts throughout the apartment," the probable cause statement revealed.Upon arrival, officers located the involved home and made entry. The PPD's Homicide Unit launched an investigation into the incident, and officers found the remains of a deceased male, who was missing his head and hands, the probable cause statement alleged. The dismembered remains were allegedly found wrapped in carpeting and an air mattress and secured with an extension cord. Police have not publicly identified the victim or disclosed the nature of his relationship to the suspect.
During the investigation, Blanco told authorities that on May 6, her bboyfriend, the alleged victim, reached out to Ebanks, whom she identified as “Draco,” seeking help to secure money for rent. According to the probable cause affidavit, Blanco told police that she, her boyfriend, and Ebanks became involved in an argument that escalated, during which she alleged Ebanks repeatedly stabbed the man with a knife.
Police said investigators used surveillance footage, phone records, and information tied to Ebanks’ ..prior criminal history to track down his location on May 8. After carrying out a search warrant at the apartment, authorities allegedly found a suitcase containing human remains. Ebanks was booked on charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping, while a judge set his cash bond at $1 million. He is scheduled to return to court on May 14.
