The Cyber Crime Cell has arrested absconding accused Vivek Beldiya in connection with an alleged ₹19.60 lakh online fraud carried out by promising unusually high returns of up to 390% through share market and investment schemes.

Victim added to WhatsApp group, shown fake profits

According to investigators, the accused lured the complainant's son with promises of high profits in the stock market and added him to a WhatsApp group.

The victim was then directed to a fake investment website, where fabricated profits were displayed to build confidence. Believing the returns to be genuine, the victim transferred a total of ₹19.60 lakh to accounts linked to the fraud.

A complaint was initially registered through the cybercrime helpline 1930, following which police launched an investigation.

Accused allegedly provided bank account for commission

During the investigation, police found that Vivek Beldiya had allegedly made an ICICI Bank account available for routing money obtained through cyber fraud in exchange for a commission.

The account was reportedly in the name of Satyajit Manjariya, who had already been arrested in the case. Police said the account was allegedly passed on to Beldiya through another accused, Pankaj Ramani.

Account recorded ₹2.73 crore transactions

Investigators found transactions worth around Rs 2.73 crore through the bank account. Police have also found 37 complaints from different parts of the country linked to the account.

The Cyber Crime Cell is now investigating the wider network and searching for other people allegedly involved in the fraud.
